3. Event Description
Drawing inspiration from the classic tale “Simcheong,” Pure Heart reimagines the traditional narrative of filial piety through a contemporary artistic lens, exploring Simcheong’s inner emotions. The performance creates a fantastical world brought to life with stunning LED visuals that fill the entire stage, seamlessly blending multi-layered costumes inspired by traditional Korean attire to deliver a truly sensorial experience.
The audience is introduced to the solitary figure of Simcheong standing alone upon a white stage. As if wrestling with her inner turmoil, she closes her eyes in silence. As she struggles to come to terms with the sacrifice she is about to make, the conflict inside her rages ever more intensely, and the tension is amplified by the arrival of Sim Bongsa and Bbaengdeok. Finally, Simcheong reaches the edge of the ship’s bow. As she gathers her resolve and leaps into the dark, blue depths, an otherworldly realm unfolds before her.
